Hi! It’s Jen. I’m the editor of Life Coach Magazine, and I’ve also been working as a life coach since 2018. When I first started, I spent hours researching microphones, whiteboards, and the things I needed (or thought I needed) to run my business.
This page is a curated list of things I actually use to run my coaching practice. I was up at 2 am reading Reddit threads so you don’t have to! If my best friend told me they were starting a coaching business, here are the things I would recommend.

Business and Planning Tools
1. The 90 Day Business Growth Challenge Journal

The 90 Day Business Growth Challenge Journal
Samantha was my first business coach. She helped me feel legit in my coaching business and start making actual money. This guided journal walks you through the marketing methods she teaches in a day-to-day format for a tiny fraction of what I paid to work with her!
2. Undated Planner

I swear by this planner. Buy it and then email me, and I’ll tell you ALL about how I use it!
3. Sticky Tabs

Spoiler alert: These stickies are part of the life-changing planner system! 😂
Coaching + Client Call Setup
4. Webcam

Logitech C920x HD Pro PC Webcam
I’ve had mine for 6 years and never had a problem! This is the newer version.
5. Microphone

Logitech Creators Blue Yeti USB Microphone
I used this back in my podcasting days, and it worked great for me.
6. Microphone Foam Cover

ienza® Windscreen for Blue Yeti Foam
I use an inexpensive foam cover on my microphone because I have a tendency to pop my p’s!
7. Whiteboard

Maxtek Easel Magnetic Tripod Whiteboard
I’m a very visual coach. I love to draw pictures and make analogies of what clients are talking about. I’ve also used this to hang paper on for workshops.
8. Paper to go on the whiteboard

This is the easel pad I use on my whiteboard. The holes at the top fit perfectly with my whiteboard, and I’ve had a lot of fun making presentations for group calls or clients on here.
Workspace & Movement
9. Office Chair

I have this in pink, and I am obsessed. I tried to talk myself out of it so many times, but I’m glad I finally took the leap. I love that I can shift into so many different positions during my workday.
10. Walking Pad

Catch me on this during important LCM editor calls. I’ll be honest, a big factor in my decision-making process was how it would look in my office. This was the most beautiful of all the walking pad options!
If I had to choose again, I might pick one with an incline like this one.
11. Standing Desk

TIQLAB Electric Height Adjustable Standing Desk
Mine is from IKEA, and you crank it up and down manually. (It’s since been discontinued.) But if I ever decide to upgrade to an electric, this is the one I have my eye on.
Focus, Time & Nervous System Support
12. Visual Timer

The only way I get anything done for Life Coach Magazine or my own coaching practice is by working in 25-minute increments with a visual timer like this one. (Mine is discontinued, but I love that this one can be paused and comes in so many great colors.)
13. Sand Timer

20 Minute Sand Timer Hourglass
I love a sand timer for when I don’t want my timer to beep and take me out of my flow. It’s just a little nudge to get me started. I also use mine in my yoga practice, for journaling, and sometimes I just watch the sand fall as a kind of meditation!
14. Fidget Toy

I actually stole this from my daughter, but I find that it helps me focus during client and work calls. I should probably grab her another one!
