Profit First

Author: Mike Michalowicz

View on Amazon

Why I love it: I love Profit First because it bridges the gap between money mindset and practical systems. It’s not just “think abundant thoughts”—it’s “let’s literally set up your accounts so you pay yourself and build profit on purpose.” For solopreneurs and small business owners, this is huge. It creates safety and stability, which makes it so much easier to make aligned decisions instead of fear-based ones.

Key insights:

  • Profit is not what’s “left over”; it’s something you intentionally prioritize.
  • Small, consistent allocations (even tiny amounts at first) build confidence and momentum.
  • Structuring your bank accounts to match your intentions (profit, owner pay, taxes, operating expenses) reduces decision fatigue and emotional money spirals.

Favorite principle, tool, or exercise: The simple act of setting up separate accounts and transferring a percentage of every deposit into profit and owner’s pay. It seems basic, but it’s incredibly empowering to watch those balances grow—even slowly—and know that you’re taking care of yourself as the CEO, not just the business.

Quote: “Pay yourself first.” (core principle, paraphrased)

Additional thoughts: For many of my clients, money is a huge source of stress—even when the revenue looks good on paper. This book helps reframe money management as a supportive ritual rather than something to avoid. It pairs well with any mindset work around worthiness, RECEIVING, and building a business that sustains your life, not the other way around.

Title: Profit First

Author: Mike Michalowicz

Why I love it: This book changed how I think about business finances—and how I coach entrepreneurs. Most business owners don’t fail because they aren’t making money; they fail because they don’t manage it well. After going through bankruptcy, I realized the issue wasn’t my vision or work ethic—it was my financial systems. Profit First gave me a practical method that removes emotion from money decisions and keeps businesses healthy.

Key insight: Your money habits matter more than your income. Prioritizing profit as a discipline—not an afterthought—changes everything: stress levels, sustainability, and your capacity to serve clients.

Favorite principle, tool, or exercise: The multiple-accounts system. Separating money into profit, owner’s pay, taxes, and operating expenses creates clarity and control. It’s simple, visual, and extremely effective. I teach this to every entrepreneur I coach.

Quote: “Profit isn’t something you make. It’s something you take.”

Additional thoughts: If you coach entrepreneurs, this book is essential. Many clients make money—but few keep it. Profit First gives them a structure that protects their business and their future.

Think and Grow Rich

Author: Napoleon Hill

View on Amazon

Why I love it: It reshaped how I think about mindset, belief, and wealth. Once I understood how my thoughts were driving my results, I started making stronger, more aligned decisions.

Key insights: Desire, belief, and persistence are the foundation of achieving anything — not luck, timing, or talent. Success begins in the mind long before it shows up in your bank account.

Favorite principle, tool, or exercise: The “burning desire” statement — writing a clear, specific declaration of what you want and reading it daily until it becomes part of your identity.

Quote: “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Additional thoughts: I recommend this book to clients working through money blocks or self-worth issues around income. It shifts them out of wishing and into intentional action.

How to Be Wildly Wealthy Fast

Author: Sandy Forster

View on Amazon

Why I love it: I love it because it makes money, mindset, manifesting, and the Law of Attraction feel simple, fun, practical, and doable. It blends metaphysical principles with proven steps in an easy-to-apply way, so you can transform your money mindset and create a life of choices, freedom, and prosperity. I know it’s a little unconventional to recommend my own book, but when I first started as a coach, these are the exact steps I used to go from welfare to millionaire.  I’ve now helped thousands of women around the world finally break through their money blocks and attract abundance and success.

Key insights:

  • How much money you have now is less about your background, qualifications, current business or job, and more about your beliefs, identity, and where you put your focus.
  • When you combine mindset, manifestation, and simple practical actions, money starts flowing in unexpected ways that feel easy and more aligned than constant hustle.
  • The more you expand your own prosperity consciousness, the easier it is to hold a bigger vision for your coaching business and welcome in clients, opportunities, and income.

Favorite principle, tool, or exercise: Visualization is my favourite tool because it lets you “live” your new reality and helps it show up in your physical world. When you consistently take time to see, feel, and experience yourself as successful, abundant, and living a life you’re passionate about, your brain starts wiring that image as familiar and safe, and your energy shifts to match it. From a manifesting perspective, you are tuning your vibration to the version of you who already has what you want. From a neuroscience perspective, you are creating new neural pathways that make new thoughts, beliefs, and actions around money and success so much easier. It is simple, it is free, and when you do it consistently, it can be absolutely life-changing.

Quote: “If the Universe can re-arrange the entire cosmos, it can shuffle a few things around in your world to make your dreams come true.”

Additional thoughts: If all the personal development and mindset work you’ve done hasn’t changed your income, and you’re still far from living your dream life, this book is for you. You’ll discover the tricks and tools I used to go from struggling on welfare to becoming a millionaire. Through simple prosperity practices, real-life stories, and a step-by-step process, you’ll start to see opportunities and money begin to flow in a way that almost feels magical. If you’re ready to stop hoping your money story will change and start manifesting that change, this book will transform your life!

The Total Money Makeover

Author: Dave Ramsey

View on Amazon

Why I love it: As a financial and productivity coach, I’ve seen how money stress paralyzes people and blocks progress in every other area of life. After facing bankruptcy three times, I understand the shame and confusion that come with financial collapse. What I respect about this book is that it doesn’t shame you—it gives you a simple, dignified path forward. That’s exactly what people need when they feel lost.

Key insights: Financial peace isn’t about how much you earn—it’s about intention, discipline, and clarity. Your beliefs shape your behaviors, and your behaviors shape your outcomes.

Favorite principle, tool, or exercise: The Baby Steps. They create a clear, step-by-step plan that removes overwhelm and builds hope. I use this framework with clients who feel behind or ashamed of their finances.

Quote: “If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.”

Additional thoughts: I recommend this book to anyone carrying financial shame or feeling trapped in debt. …recovery is possible. This book helps clients rebuild with structure and purpose.

The Science of Getting Rich

Author: Wallace Wattles

View on Amazon

Why I love it: The knowledge shared is priceless. Absolute truths. Timeless Wisdom condensed in just 77 pages.

Key insight(s): This is no exaggeration, but each word of this book is important. Still, if I have to share only one insight, I would share this: “You are to become a creator, not a competitor. Intelligent Substance will make things for you, but it will not take things away from someone else and give them to you.” The world really needs to know this. We have built the myth of competition so strongly that it is destroying our uniqueness, in general, and our potential to bloom, in particular.

Additional thoughts: You need to metabolize the wisdom to truly benefit from it.

The Law of Divine Compensation

Author: Marianne Williamson

View on Amazon

Why I love it: This book is one of the finest elucidations of the profound principles of ‘The Course in Miracles’ on work, money, and miracles. It is a guide to spiritual principles that pave the way to material abundance.

Key insight(s): Regardless of the limits that exist in your material world, you are an unlimited spiritual being. When you remember this truth, you summon The Law of Divine Compensation.

Favorite principle, tool, or exercise: All the exercises and prayers to release: 1) a negative sense of self, 2) anger, and 3) guilt.

Quote: “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Love is the only eternal truth, while fear is a hallucination of the mortal mind.”

Additional thoughts: Embrace your faith in the positive. This can activate the Law of Divine Compensation. If you have faith in love and positivity, you activate abundance and set in motion activities to support your goals. From “out of the blue” or miracle-mindedness, miracles will flow forth naturally.

Favorite principle, tool, or exercise: “Prosperity Game” exercise is fantastic. As you play it, you discover yourself more and more.

Quote: “We work for satisfaction, and we get paid for the services rendered.” This is a profound statement. It allows us the courage and confidence to choose the work we would love to do without worrying about money.
