5-Minute Morning Meditation Script

This quick 5-minute gratitude meditation script is perfect for busy mornings. It helps you ground yourself, set intentions, and start the day with gratitude.

Introduction (30 seconds)

Sit comfortably, either on a cushion with your legs crossed or on a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Gently rest your hands on your lap or knees, palms facing up. Close your eyes or soften your gaze, and take a deep breath in through your nose. Hold it for a moment, and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Grounding (1 minute)

Take a moment to feel grounded in your body. Notice the feeling of your feet touching the floor or your body supported by the chair or cushion beneath you. Imagine strong roots extending from the base of your spine or from the soles of your feet.

Take a deep breath in, hold, and then exhale slowly, releasing any tension or worry. Repeat this twice more.

Awareness of Breath (1.5 minutes)

Bring your attention to your breath. Simply notice it moving in and out of your body. Feel the cool air as it enters your nostrils and the warm air as you exhale. Let your breath flow, without any effort to control it.

If your mind begins to wander, gently shift your focus back to the rhythm of your breathing. As you breathe, silently repeat to yourself:

  • On the inhale, “I am calm.”
  • On the exhale, “I am at peace.”

Setting an Intention (1 minute)

Now, shift your focus to the day ahead. What energy would you like to carry with you today? It could be calm, focus, gratitude, or joy.

Silently repeat your intention in your mind, such as:

  • “I approach today with positivity and strength.”
  • “I am open to the opportunities of this day.”

Feel this intention radiating through your body.

Closing (1 minute)

Gradually bring your awareness back to the present. Wiggle your fingers and toes gently. Roll your shoulders or move your neck, letting your body wake up fully.

When you’re ready, take a final deep inhale through your nose and gently release it through your mouth. Open your eyes, and take a moment to notice how you feel. Carry this sense of calm and purpose with you as you step into your day.

10-Minute Morning Meditation for Positivity and Gratitude

Introduction (1 minute)

Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit. Sit upright with your back straight, shoulders at ease, and hands resting gently on your lap or knees. Close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Take a really slow, deep inhale through your nose, feeling your lungs expand. Hold it for a moment, and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Grounding and Body Awareness (2 minutes)

Take a moment to feel grounded in your body. Notice where your body connects with the surface beneath you. Imagine that with every breath in, you’re drawing energy from the earth.

Bring your awareness to your body, starting at the top of your head. Slowly scan down and notice any areas of tension or discomfort. Relax your forehead, your jaw, your shoulders. Let your arms and hands grow heavy. Feel your torso soften, your hips sink into the surface, and your legs and feet relax.

With each exhale, release any heaviness and allow your body to feel lighter and more at ease.

Breath Awareness (3 minutes)

Now, focus on your breath. Notice its natural rhythm as it flows in and out. Feel the air entering through your nostrils, cool and refreshing, and exiting warm and gentle.

If your mind begins to wander, that’s okay. Gently guide your attention back to your breath. As you breathe, silently repeat these affirmations:

  • On the inhale: “I breathe in calm.”
  • On the exhale: “I let go of stress.”

Visualization (2 minutes)

Picture yourself standing at the start of a beautiful path. The sun is rising, casting a golden glow all around you. Feel its warmth on your skin, its light filling you with energy and optimism.

As you step forward on this path in your mind, imagine your day unfolding with ease and positivity. See yourself approaching your tasks and interactions with confidence, grace, and a sense of purpose.

Allow this vision to fill you with excitement and calm for the day ahead.

Setting an Intention (2 minutes)

Now, bring to mind an intention for your day. What energy would you like to carry with you? What value or quality would you like to embody?

It could be something like:

  • “I will approach today with gratitude.”
  • “I will stay present and open to possibilities.”
  • “I will meet challenges with strength and kindness.”

Silently repeat your intention to yourself and let it sink into your heart and mind.

Closing (2 minutes)

Slowly bring your focus back to your physical surroundings. Notice the sounds around you, the feel of the air on your skin. Gently wiggle your fingers and toes. Roll your shoulders or move your neck.

Take one final deep breath in through your nose, holding it at the top, and exhale completely through your mouth.

When you’re ready, open your eyes, and take a moment to notice how you feel.

15-Minute Sunrise Meditation Script

Introduction (2 minutes)

Find a peaceful, comfortable spot where you can sit and witness the sunrise, either in person or in your mind’s eye. Sit with your back straight, hands resting gently on your lap, and close your eyes or keep them slightly open, gazing softly at the horizon.

Breathe deeply through your nose, letting your lungs fill completely with air. Hold it for a moment, and then exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing any tension or heaviness.

Grounding and Body Awareness (3 minutes)

Shift your attention to where your body makes contact with the ground, chair, or cushion. Feel the earth supporting you, as if you are rooted and stable. Imagine yourself grounded, connected to the energy of the earth beneath you.

Take a moment to scan your body, starting at the crown of your head and moving downward. Notice any areas of tension, and with each exhale, let that tension soften and melt away. Relax your shoulders, your chest, your hips, and finally your legs and feet.

Feel the weight of your body fully supported by the ground, and let yourself settle into stillness.

Sunrise Visualization (6 minutes)

Bring to mind the image of a sunrise. Imagine you are sitting in a serene place where the horizon stretches out before you—perhaps on a beach, a mountaintop, or a quiet field.

Inhale deeply, and as you do, picture the sky beginning to lighten with soft shades of pink, orange, and gold. With each breath, feel the warmth and energy of the sun as it begins to rise.

As the sun peeks over the horizon, imagine its light touching your skin. Feel it gently warming your face, your hands, your entire body. Visualize this light filling you with vibrant energy, awakening every cell in your body.

Let the sunlight wash away any lingering negativity or stress. Imagine the light illuminating your mind, clearing away doubts and inviting clarity and purpose.

As the sun continues to rise, silently repeat to yourself:

  • “I rise with the sun.”
  • “I am open to the possibilities of this day.”
  • “I am filled with light and energy.”

Spend a few moments simply basking in the warmth and radiance of this sunrise.

Breathwork with the Sunrise (4 minutes)

Now, connect your breath to the rhythm of the sunrise. As you inhale, imagine the sun rising higher into the sky and filling you with vibrant energy.

Inhale: Visualize light expanding within you.

Exhale: Imagine releasing any tension or heaviness into the earth below.

If your mind starts to drift, gently shift your focus back to your breath and the rising sun. Allow yourself to feel deeply connected to the natural cycle of the day.

Continue this breathwork, and repeat silently:

  • “With each breath, I awaken.”
  • “With each breath, I am renewed.”

Let yourself feel fully present in this moment.

Setting an Intention for the Day (3 minutes)

As the bright sun climbs higher in the sky in your visualization, bring your attention to the day ahead. Ask yourself: What energy do I want to carry with me today?

Choose a word or phrase that reflects how you want to show up in the world. It could be:

  • “Gratitude”
  • “Confidence”
  • “Patience”
  • “Joy”

Silently repeat your intention to yourself and allow it to settle in your mind and heart.

Closing (2 minutes)

Slowly shift your awareness back to your surroundings. Notice the sounds around you, the feel of the air on your skin, and the connection of your body to the ground. Wiggle your toes and fingers and gently roll your shoulders to awaken your body.

Take a final deep breath in, hold it for a moment, and then exhale completely.

When you’re ready, open your eyes. If you are witnessing the sunrise, take a moment to appreciate its beauty. If you visualized it, carry the memory of this light and warmth with you.

You are now ready to step into your day, aligned with the energy of the rising.

Tips to Make Morning Meditation a Habit

  • Start Small: If 15 minutes feels overwhelming, begin with 5 minutes and work your way up.
  • Create a Ritual: Pair your meditation with a morning habit, like making coffee or journaling, to build consistency.
  • Find a Comfortable Space: Set up a peaceful corner with a cushion or chair where you won’t be distracted.
  • Use an Alarm or Reminder: Set a gentle alarm or reminder to prompt you to meditate, especially when starting out.
  • Prepare the Night Before: Set up your meditation area before going to bed. Lay out your cushion or prepare any tools you use, like headphones for guided meditations.
  • Track Your Progress: Use a journal, calendar, or app to track your meditation streaks. Seeing your daily progress can motivate you to continue.
  • Pair It with Your “Why”: Reflect on why you want to meditate in the morning: is it for stress relief, focus, or better energy? Keep this purpose in mind to stay motivated.
  • And Lastly, Be Patient: Building a habit takes time. If you skip a day, don’t be hard on yourself. Simply start again the next morning.

By keeping things simple and fitting meditation into your existing lifestyle, it will soon become a natural and valuable part of your mornings.
