Kristy is a certified Christian life coach who helps women find who God made them to be, whether they’re sweet 16 or sassy 66. Facebook. Instagram.
As her last child entered senior year, Kristy found herself facing a major life transition. After years of homeschooling and mentoring other moms, she felt like she was losing her identity, role, and sense of purpose. Discovering coaching opened the door not only to a fun “second act” but also to a greater sense of meaning and purpose. Just two weeks after certifying, Kristy launched her new coaching practice, equipped with both credibility and a stronger way to support women through their own transformations.
In this interview, Kristy shares why she chose Master’s Academy, how the program shaped her personally and professionally, and why certification helped her move from uncertainty into a clearer sense of calling.
What led you to consider getting a coaching certification?
Last summer, I was a homeschool mom quickly approaching “forced retirement” as my last child started her senior year. I felt like I was losing my identity, my job title, and my purpose. Scrolling through Instagram, I discovered a coaching offer for women like me. After my first session as a client, I felt like I found my “second act.” Though I’ve been mentoring homeschool moms for years, I wanted to become a certified coach to add credibility and also to learn how to better help women like me.
What mattered most to you when choosing a certification program?
The most important thing to me was finding a Christian program that offered spiritual transformation, not just some well-meaning words. I was also looking for a program with live instruction that fit my schedule. And, I didn’t have thousands of dollars to spend.
Which certification program did you choose, and why?
I chose Master’s Academy because the four-pillar model appeared well-organized, effective, and based in biblical understanding. It fit in my schedule and my budget, plus it is accredited [by ICOES]. I knew after just a few minutes of my first live class that I had made the right choice. The teaching was transformational, authentic, thorough, and even exceeded my expectations. I loved every minute and would highly recommend the program.
Share your honest experience with the program.
This is not a goal-setting program with a Christian twist. It is a transformational experience that equips its students to collaborate with the client and God to bring about meaningful change. Every week in class, we learned a new coaching tool and experienced it live as a client first before practicing in our assignments. I loved the interactive lessons and the thorough lectures.
Have you done more than one certification? If so, why?
I simultaneously enrolled in the Life Coach Certification program offered by Master’s Academy’s sister school, the Life Coach Training Institute. I did so because I felt it would give me a well-rounded approach to my practice.
Was there anything that surprised you about the certification process?
Two things surprised me: I experienced a major breakthrough during class practice and as a practice client, and second, I met new friends whom I consider among my dearest confidantes now.
Share one win or story that stands out in your experience of getting certified.
The first in-class activity brought me a tremendous breakthrough! A lie I had believed about myself and about God was totally destroyed in just one class session, though I had fought it with self-help and counseling for years and couldn’t shake it loose.
Overall, how have you and/or your coaching practice changed since certification?
Because of what I learned in Master’s Academy, I launched my practice just two weeks after I became certified. Going in, I thought this would be a fun “second act” for me when my daughter graduated. But Master’s Academy actually led me to my calling and purpose.
Do you feel your certification was worth the investment? Why or why not?
My expectations for certifying were not just met, they were exceeded. My investment paid off in terms of my own personal growth and transformation, as well as the growth and transformation of my classmates and clients.
If you could go back, would you choose the same certification again? Why or why not?
I would choose Master’s Academy again and again. I feel equipped and empowered to do the work God has called me to do because of the training I received in this program.
Are there any certification programs you recommend?
I highly recommend Master’s Academy and Life Coach Training Institute for their effective, affordable, excellent hands-on certification programs. No fluff, no gimmicks, just quality, heartfelt, and wise instruction.
What tips or advice would you give to someone who’s considering getting certified?
If you’re feeling called to help people change their lives and you’re ready to do the work yourself, then don’t wait. Go all in and get certified!
