Julia knew that becoming a certified coach was her first step toward building credibility and a professional coaching practice. She completed two very different certification programs, each shaping her approach and deepening her growth in unique ways. From transformational inner work to practical mentorship and business integration, certification gave her the tools, confidence, and structure to step fully into her coaching career.

In this interview, Julia shares her honest experience with both programs—including what she learned, how the trainings differed, and how certification helped her gain credibility, grow as a coach, and take her new profession seriously.

Since certifying, Julia has launched DELTA – The Business Mastery Programme, a 12-month hybrid experience for women ready to build a soul-aligned business that fits their real life. The programme blends her accredited coaching tools with practical strategy, helping clients move from scattered ideas to a structured, confident business foundation.

Did you complete a coach certification program? Give us a brief summary of your experience.

Yes, I did complete two certification programmes, both very different from each other.

The first one was a year-long certification program with the Institute for Coaching Mastery by Alyssa Nobriga. The program itself is accredited by the International Coaching Federation. It was the best experience of my life. The first 6 months of the program were the facilitation part. We were provided with outstanding support throughout the program. It is a hybrid model: self-paced learning, drip-fed, supported by weekly calls with live hot-seat coaching and Q&A, always led by service. In addition, we had smaller cohorts, expert workshops, a mid-way online retreat, followed by the business mastery part to integrate the learning into a business. I went the certification route and passed with amazing support from the team.

Have you done more than one certification? Tell us why and how it has helped you.

Yes, after getting certified as a Mastery Method Coach, I have joined another 4-month program that also provided the necessary mentor coaching hours that are required to get accredited by the International Coaching Federation. The contrast was enormous; it was more teaching than personal work. The first program was highly transformational; the second, more theoretical and self-directed. While it offered excellent mentorship that helped me prepare for the ICF accreditation, it reaffirmed how important it is to experience the tools yourself first.

These two experiences together helped me become not only a better coach but also more grounded in combining inner transformation with practical strategy – an approach I now use in my work with clients.

Why did you get certified? And was your “why” met?

My intention was to gain credibility and establish myself as a professional in a new field. That goal has been fully met. The double certification and ACC credential strengthened my confidence and credibility, and people began to take my work seriously—both in personal and business coaching. Now, four years into this journey, the credential still stands as a testament to my professionalism and ethical standards, reflecting the trust, integrity, and continuous growth that define my work today.

What did you get from your certification? And was it worth what you invested?

I gained a higher level of self-awareness and have grown as a human being and leader immensely.

I received world-class training and tools that prepared me for taking this new profession to a full-time role. Financial ROI came later, but personal and professional growth was immediate and invaluable.

What surprised you? Were there any benefits from certifying that you weren’t expecting?

No major surprises—I chose intentionally and knew what I wanted. But I didn’t anticipate how much my own transformation would influence the way I now support others in building their businesses from the inside out.

Are there any certification programs you’d recommend?

The only coaching certification I would wholeheartedly recommend is The Institute for Coaching Mastery by Alyssa Nobriga. It’s a complete blend of inner transformation, professional training, and ethical practice.

Do you have any other tips or insights for someone considering certifying?

Take it seriously. Do the inner work. And when you’re ready, don’t stop there—learn how to turn it into a business. You already have the tools; what you need next is structure, clarity, and support to make it real.

Conclusion

Each certification program offers distinct lessons. While Julia’s first training focused on deep inner work and transformation, the second provided more mentorship and preparation for accreditation. Together, they laid the foundation for her to build a successful, credible coaching practice, including the creation of DELTA, a guided programme that helps emerging coaches, holistic practitioners, and purpose-driven professionals build sustainable businesses with clarity and confidence.

Julia’s story is a reminder that each certification journey is unique, and it doesn’t end with certification; it begins there. If you’re considering getting certified, be sure to check out our Q&A with Alyssa Nobriga, founder of the Institute for Coaching Mastery.
